The actress repeats her role as Agatha Harkness, from whom she originated in “Wandavision”.’
Kathryn Hahn promises wonderful surprises that will come out of Agatha: Darkhold Diaries when it is released after this year.
Speaking to ET’s Kevin Frazier from the 2024 SAG Awards carpet on Saturday night, the 50-year-old actress was reticent when it came to sharing details about the upcoming Disney+ series, which just recently released its first look.
“I wish I could tell you everything. I can tell you that it’s a pretty fabulous fan, I’ll say that,” Hahn said. “I wanted to say fantastic, but then I decided to say Fabulous.”
The change of adjectives seems to be that Hahn is trying to avoid a connection to Marvel’s recent confirmation that Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Ebon Moss-Bachrach and Joseph Quinn will play the Fantastic Four in a movie that is scheduled for release in July 2025. In the comics, Hahn’s character is the housekeeper of Franklin Richards, the son of Reed Richards (Pascal) and Sue Storm (Kirby).
Regarding the cast of his own show-which includes big names like Aubrey Plaza, Patti LuPone, Joe Locke and Isabelle Fuhrman-Hahn couldn’t say enough nice things and promised the fans that they made it something that is sure to surprise and excite.
“It’s an awesome cast. I’m impressed with everyone’s work on this show and I think people will be surprised,” Hahn said. “I don’t – I think they will think it’s a one-way street, and of course it will go a million different ways, similar to WandaVision.”
The show is a spin-off from Wandavision, directed by Elizabeth Olsen and Paul Bettany of Disney+, which was broadcast on the streaming platform in early 2021. Hahn’s character – the curious and deceitful Agatha Harkness (referred to as “Agnes” throughout the series until a big reveal in the final episodes)-immediately became a hit among Marvel fans, and in November 2021, the big franchise announced that it had given the green light for a spin-off.
This confirmation came after Hahn spoke to ET the previous month and spiced up the potential for a new show after months of begging fans.
“Anything can happen,” the actress told time.
Since then, the series has undergone many name changes-including but not limited to Agatha: Coven of Chaos and Agatha: House of Harkness-before finally landing on Agatha: Darkhold Diaries in 2023. According to Variety, the series will be a dark comedy with wandavision’s head writer Jac Schaeffer at the helm as the series’ writer and executive producer.
When ET caught up with the Emmy-nominated actress in November 2022, she played shy about the show, but said it was about “witches, witches, witches, witches.”
“I’m very excited about it,” Hahn said. “I’m very excited for you to see it.”
The show also stars former Saturday Night Live cast member Sasheer Zamata and sees the return of WandaVision alumni Emma Caulfield Ford and Debra Jo Rupp.
Agatha: Darkhold Diaries will be released at the end of 2025.
